April 19, 2024, Shawnee, OK – United Way of Pottawatomie County partnered with Pottawatomie Go, Shawnee Family YMCA, and Oklahoma Baptist University to host a one-year anniversary of the April 19 tornado called United in Strength Stroll.
April 15, 2024, Shawnee, OK – The Pottawatomie County Long Term Recovery Group went door-to-door to homes that were impacted by the tornado to inform them of resources available such as Catholic Charities. We knocked on over 400 homes.
August 22, 2023, Shawnee, OK – The United Way of Pottawatomie County’s Shawnee Recovery Fund has received a $50,000 donation from BancFirst and BancFirst Insurance. This donation will fund recovery efforts for the community affected by the April 19, 2023 Shawnee Tornado.
July 24, 2023, Shawnee, OK – The United Way of Pottawatomie County’s Shawnee Recovery Fund has received a $100,000 donation from SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital – Shawnee, all of which will fund recovery efforts for the community affected by the April 19, 2023 Shawnee Tornado.
June 1, 2023, Shawnee, OK – The United Way of Pottawatomie County’s Shawnee Recovery Fund has received a $300,000 donation from the Avedis Foundation, which will fund the cost of necessary repairs and rebuilding efforts for citizens’ homes and other unmet community needs of those affected by the April 19, 2023, Shawnee Tornado. The F2 tornado affected over 1,800 homes of residents in the Shawnee area. FEMA estimated approximately 50% of homes in the affected areas were not insured; of those insured, some are still underinsured.
May 23, 2023, Shawnee, OK – The United Way of Pottawatomie County’s Shawnee Recovery Fund has received a $100,000 donation from the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, all of which will fund unmet needs of the community affected by the April 19, 2023, Shawnee Tornado.
April 29, 2023, Shawnee, OK – The United Way of Pottawatomie County’s Shawnee Recovery Fund has received over $300,000 in individual and corporate donations, and an additional $200,000 match challenge, all of which will fund unmet needs of citizens affected by the April 19, 2023, Shawnee Tornado.
